Appearances can be deceiving and Vince Kidd is a fine example of how true this is. His small frame, bleached hair and tattoos provide a startling contrast to his big, rich and husky voice; more reminiscent of a seasoned old soul-man than the young urban rebel he appears to be.
Vince Kidd, real name Matthew Protheroe, is 23 years old from South London, or as he claims it to be suburban South London. We first saw Vince hit our screens back in 2007 when he auditioned for the X Factor. Although he didnt make it through as a solo artist he was thrown into a group with four other solo artists who went on to become Futureproof. The band battled it out on the live shows and were eliminated in week 3. The band stayed together and toured around the UK as part of the X factor live tour. Not long after the tour ended the band decided to call it a day.
Vince then decided to go it alone again and started to write and record his own music. Sony/ATV publishing quickly realized his ability to pen a good tune and signed him to their roster of talented writers in 2011 which resulted in him writing songs for several artists.
Since then he has been working on his own brand of ghetto-fabulous pop which incorporates throwback soul, hip-hop swag and is bound for nothing less than Illuminati status.
In early 2012 Vince decided to showcase his amazing talents and audition for The Voice UK. He performed his own unique version of the Madonna classic Like A Virgin which wowed all 4 judges gaining him a place in the live shows being mentored by Jessie J. Week after week Vince has won the votes of both judges and the public and has now found himself in the live finale.
